The Martin Chronicles team
Help write, draw, voice, and share the saga. Most of this work happens online, on your own schedule.
These are volunteer roles. What that means
What I'm working toward
The Martin Chronicles is planned as 45 books. Here's what I'm building toward, and where the team comes in.
- Finish all 45 books
Six main series and three mini-series, planned and written with help from a story partner, outliners, and the continuity team.
- Polish every book through its editions
Each book starts as a first edition on Wattpad, gets revised through its second, third, and sometimes fourth editions here on my website, and ends as a final edition on AO3. Beta readers and editors help each one get better.
- Keep the canon consistent
A shared series bible tracks characters, timelines, and world details, so every book, episode, and comic agrees.
- A free audiobook
One narrator reading the final edition of every book, free for everyone.
- Free ebooks that look like real books
Covers, illustrations, and clean page layouts designed by the team.
- YouTube episodes and comic strips
Visual-novel-style episodes adapted from the books, plus comic strips of favourite moments, including ones the community votes on.
- An animated proof of concept
A short animatic that shows what the saga could look like animated, a first step toward full animation someday.
Roles
Right now I most need a story partner and someone to help with outlining.
Writing team
Plan, write, and polish the books, and adapt them into scripts.
- Story partner
Plan upcoming books with me: brainstorm arcs, work through plot problems, and make sure each mystery's clues play fair. Final story decisions stay with me.
- Outlining
Turn brainstorms into clear book and chapter outlines, and keep them organized as the saga grows.
- Continuity
Track characters, timelines, and world details in the series bible so all the books stay consistent.
- Lore checking
Compare story details with Genshin Impact's lore and flag where the story differs from the game, so every change is on purpose.
- Script writing
Adapt the books into scripts for the YouTube episodes and comic strips. The books stay the canon, and I approve final drafts.
- Beta reading
Read chapters before they're published and flag typos, plot holes, and confusing moments.
- Editing
Polish revised chapters for grammar, clarity, and flow while keeping my voice.
- Sensitivity reading
Read chapters for respectful, authentic portrayals of cultures, identities, and disabilities.
- Translation
Translate finished books for readers in other languages.
Visual art team
Bring the saga to life visually, working toward animated episodes and comic strips of the story.
- Character design
Design how each character looks, from outfits to expressions, so every artist draws them the same way.
- Illustration
Covers, chapter art, and illustrations for the books and social posts.
- Backgrounds and sprites
Paint locations and character sprites for the visual-novel-style episodes.
- Storyboards
Plan scenes shot by shot for the episodes and comic strips, plus animatics for a short animated proof of concept.
- Comic art
Draw comic strips of favourite moments from the books, including ones the community votes on.
- Animation
Bring storyboards to life for the animated proof of concept.
- Episode editing
Put together the YouTube episodes from the art, text, and music.
- Ebook design
Design and lay out the ebook editions so they look clean and read well on any device.
Voice and audio team
Give the saga a voice, from the audiobook to the episodes.
- Audiobook narrator
Read the final edition of each book for the free audiobook. One narrator reads the whole saga, so this is a long-term role.
- Voice acting
Voice characters in the YouTube episodes.
- Audio editing
Clean up and mix recorded voice work.
- Proof-listening
Listen along with the final edition and flag misread lines, mispronunciations, and audio problems in the audiobook.
- Sound design
Add sound effects and background ambience to the episodes.
- Captions and accessibility
Write captions for the episodes, alt text for art, and transcripts for audio.
Community and behind the scenes
- Moderation
Help keep the Discord welcoming and organized.
- Community events
Run read-alongs, theory nights, fan-art challenges, and comic-strip polls in the Discord.
- Social media
Share new chapters, make teaser posts, and help new readers find the saga on Tumblr and other platforms.
- Website
Keep the website running and up to date, or help rebuild it. Fix problems, add new pages, and connect tools like the newsletter.
- Production coordinator
Keep track of who's working on what, upcoming deadlines, and shared files.
- Showrunner's assistant
Join team meetings, take notes, and keep a running log of decisions, then go over them with me on a short call afterward so nothing gets lost.
