Reading
Where should I start?
With Book One, The Advocate and the Truth. The Saga page lists every book in reading order.
Do I need to play Genshin Impact to follow it?
The saga is written for Genshin Impact fans, so knowing the game, especially Fontaine and its characters, will help a lot.
Is it canon?
No. The Martin Chronicles is an alternate-universe (AU) story. It uses Genshin Impact's world and characters, but the story, and some events and relationships, are different from the game.
Is it really free?
Yes. Every book is free to read on Wattpad and to download as a PDF. Patreon support is optional, and it never unlocks the story.
Can I read it offline?
Yes. Download the free PDF from the Editions page. It works in any PDF app on your phone, tablet, or computer.
Can I share the PDF?
Yes, please share it freely. Just don't sell it.
When is the next book coming out?
There's no set date yet. Sign up for the newsletter or join the Discord to hear as soon as it's published.
The saga
Is The Martin Chronicles connected to HoYoverse?
No. It's an unofficial fan work, and it isn't affiliated with or endorsed by HoYoverse. Genshin Impact and its characters belong to HoYoverse.
Will there be an audiobook or animation?
That's the long-term goal: audio samples first, then a short animated proof of concept, and full animation someday. There's no timeline yet, and any news will be shared in the newsletter and the Discord.
Can I suggest ideas for the story?
You're welcome to share them in the Discord or the comments. Final story decisions stay with Shaun.
Getting involved
Can I make fan art?
Yes, please do. Share it in the Discord and sign it so everyone knows who made it.
Do Patreon supporters get early access to the books?
No. The books and episodes are never locked behind Patreon. Patrons get behind-the-scenes posts on how they're made, a Supporter role in the Discord, and their name in the episode credits.
Can I work on the saga? Is it paid?
Right now every role is volunteer and unpaid, and you're credited for your work. Paid freelance roles will be posted on the Join the Team page when funding allows.
